Workshops

Banking

Facilitated by staff from the ASSU, SSE Capital Group, this session will prepare you to bank with the ASSU. The financial officer from each VSO must attend the workshop only once during their Stanford tenure in order to access the student group bank account.

Party Planning

Party Planning workshops will prepare you to plan a responsible and safe party. This is mandatory for all groups planning to sponsor campus parties and serve alcohol. We recommend that more than one member of your group attend.

Event Planning

The Event Planning workshop is recommended for members of groups active in planning medium to large events on campus whether they are conferences, parties, performances, or lectures. Topics include funding, budgeting, logistics and more general tips. Presidents and financial officers are especially encouraged to attend as knowledge of some of the topics is essential to successful event planning.


Community Service Projects

This workshop is for student groups that conduct one to two service projects a year. Learn from staff at the Haas Center for Public Service how to choose a service project, train volunteers, build and maintain strong community relationships, and facilitate group experiencea.

Ethical & Effective Service (a mandatory workshop for community service VSOs)

Facilitated by staff from the Haas Center for Public Service and the Office of Student Activities, learn how to ethically and effectively conduct service for both your community partners and your members. Mandatory for all student groups that identify at Community Service in myGroups.


Resource 101s

Resource 101 workshops will focus on specific interests and activities related to your organization type. The specific workshops focus on one of the following:

Student Organization Leader Training

A workshop designed for new student organization leaders offered every quarter. We will cover relevant topics for all student organization leaders including strategic planning, event planning, fundraising, recruiting new members, motivating members, and transitioning. Sponsored by: Asian American Activities Center, Black Community Service Center, GSB Student Life Office, Haas Center for Public Service, Office of Student Activities, Women's Community Center

The Stanford Fund Partnership

A workshop designed for groups interested in applying to participate in The Stanford Fund Partnership. This workshops goes over the program, including what to include in your application, tips to increase your awarded amount, and what to expect if your group is accepted. Recommended for potential TSF Coordinators from student groups. Sponsored by: Office of Student Activities and The Office of Development
